FIFA 12

Today, September 27, 2011 was the release date for FIFA 12. There's been a few changes and improvements for the latest edition. The one that affects the game the most is the new in game defense. It now takes more timing than luck, but it will help separate a good player from a bad player. Other changes is the new online game modes and supporting your team online. All of the teams are updated, have new kits and each player has the latest boots whether it is adiZero F50 Primes or the Mizuno Morelia.

For 64.99 (including tax) I was able to get hooked up at the Hi-Tech Gametraders in Erindale, they always have great service.

The Investors Group Comedy Tour

Investors Group once again partners up with Food Banks Canada to provide The Investors Group's employees and clients with stand up comedy for the exchange of food donations. It was a lot of fun, we had drinks and mingled with people at the event. I'd say the event was once again a success, there was a cash and food donation at the beginning of the show where Investor's Group and Food Banks Canada spokesmen prepared a speech. Like last year, there were three presentations. In order of appearance it was Jim Dailakis, Ryan Hamilton and Greg Hahn. Each comedian had a completely different personality, whether they were energetic, clever or just plain raunchy.

I wasn't allowed to take videos or photos during the presentation, so Youtube had to help me on this one.

Jim Dailakis:

Ryan Hamilton:

Greg Hahn:

Hopefully I can attend again next year!

The North Face

It gets cold up here in the Great White North. A warm jacket for the winter is a necessity. Being happy with my previous Gotham jacket, I am going to need a new North Face coat that is better fitting. Check out this one on the left. I am going to still need to do more research, but this one just may have won me over.

hello saskatoon Limited Edition Tee

It's official!

Our hello saskatoon X Provadenic collab. tee is fresh off the press and waiting to be claimed. There are 20 of these limited edition photo tees, and you can snipe one for $25. Don't miss out!

In case you were hiding in your closet during the photo contest this summer, below is the winning entry (taken by Evan Neufeld), which earned it's place not only on the t-shirt, but also as our blog header...

What defines Saskatoon?  I was stumped on this topic but after leaving home for a while this past year I realized how much I love it here.  To sum it up in a word, Saskatoon is... GREAT!  Along with my love for the city, this photo relates to our beloved town through the Great Western Brewing Company (this is the side of their building) which is a symbol of the hard working, successful businesses we have that are run by people who are driven by a desire for quality products and supporting the local community.  This photo is a winner because it exemplifies my feelings towards our city and it is a creative shout-out to the many entrepreneurs who eat, sleep and breathe Saskatoon to make our city and our province a better place. -Evan Neufeld

FIFA 12

All of the guys and myself have been getting really excited about the release for the new FIFA by downloading the demo. So far it's great, defending is difficult and goals seem to be more realistic. If you have a Playstation 3 or X-Box 360 download the demo over night. Here's a promo of Hope Solo and Steve Nash.

iMac

I have been using my laptop for the past few months because our computer was down. It sucked a lot, sharing one laptop when all of us were all needed it for different reasons. As of lately my parents had been talking about getting a new desktop, researching off and on for the past month until the salesman at Best Buy talked them into bringing this home. Welcome to the Mack family.

Back to School

School at the University of Saskatchewan began last Tuesday. The first week was great, there was small amounts of homework, everyone showed up on campus and the weather was beautiful. All classes were introductions to the courses and meeting your classmates. There was good music in the beer gardens constantly, musicians such as Dr. J, the Gaff and Pirate Fridays played. But now welcome week has ended and the real work begins..

Nike MAG 2011

Ever since I was into sneakers, there has always been talk about the Nike MAG. Everyone wanted the return of the Marty McFly MAG. It looks like something in Nike has cooked up something tasty, looks like that petition actually worked.

Nike Tiempo Legend IV

Yesterday I received the new Legend IV's in the white/treasure blue/metallic silver colourway. I am very excited to use them for the first time tonight. I've honestly been wearing them constantly around the basement as I juggle a ball around trying to get a bit of stretch. I have been bouncing around shoe from shoe, but I always come back to Nike and kangaroo leather models. I am looking forward to play in them because of their reasonable weight and most importantly the touch.

Fit
I was unsure of what size I needed but it worked out that they are true to size. It's great to get a snug fit because the kangaroo leather will stretch nicely while the back of the shoe made of kanga-lite will keep it's shape. The fit is supposed to be a bit narrower than the Legend III.

Similarities and Differences
Like I've said in the past, I had the original Tiempo Legend. There has been a ton of changes that I have noticed. First of all the new er model has a quilted leather pattern similar to the Ronaldinho Dois. It's also the lightest Legend up to date. The stud placement is new too, there are blades on the back of the boot while having a mixture of blades, round and oval studs to improve the traction. There is no longer a folded tongue or a Zoom Air bag (which really surprised me). Other small things you will notice is that some inner studs are lower than the outside ones and the inside swoosh is kanga-lite while the outer swoosh is made of a plastic material. Similar to previous models, there is still the heel protection. I even managed to grab the same colourway as my original pair.

Price
They are about $150 USD and I will guess that they are $200-$250 Canadian. Sure it's more affordable online, but I wouldn't order them online unless you know for sure what size you need. They can probably be found at Xtratime/Soccer Locker and maybe even Sport Chek in Midtown.

I plan on keeping everyone up to date on how these work out.

The Art of Flight

It's September, which means it's basically Christmas, which means despite the 30 degree weather that dropped this week, winter is only weeks away. I guess it's just about that time to get over wakeboarding and suntanning and get stoked on snowboarding and hot tubbing. If you're having trouble with the transition just watch this video. Problem solved.

Think OTB - D-Pryde

My friend Sam at Think Out of the Box managed to record D-Pryde's entire performance (well practically all of it) at the Odeon. It's one of the top viewed videos coming from Canada today. If you have time at school or at work to take a break and watch this, I am sure you will be entertained by this nerdy Toronto Youtube rapper.

DJ Hedspin - "Otis"

On Wednesday at work JJ stayed later to do his regular routine of reading music blogs. As he was playing random songs he managed to come across this Jay and Ye track. DJ Hedspin is part of the Eh! Team and I do know that he makes a few stops to Saskatoon to spin. This is a real fun and funky version of the original, have a listen and enjoy.

Nike SB - "The Cigar"

Nike SB’s “Cigar” Dunk High Premium is a September quick-strike (limited quantities produced) collaboration by the legendary Todd Bratrud and the SPoT (Skatepark of Tampa). Todd Bratrud being an iconic skateboard artist managed to spark a new idea. You may have seen some of his previous work with Nike such as the “Send Help”, “Skunk”, “Brain Wreck”, and this year’s “Cheech & Chong”. The Skatepark of Tampa helped contribute with their local friends at ‘Ybor City’ (a cigar factory). The “Cigar” plays a large part of Tampa’s past. Tampa was accidentally found for having an ideal climate for cigar production back in the late 1800′s.

To focus on the shoe itself, the majority of the upper is a suede with leather panels that rests on a black mid sole and grey outer sole, while the swoosh is a contrasting team red.  When you skate with them, you will soon realize that there is a second layer of material underneath the ‘cigar like blunt skin’ textured leather.

2011 Canadian Super Bike Champion

BMW’s Brett McCormick recently won the 2011 Canadian Superbike Championship for the first time in his career thanks to a decisive victory on Saturday, August 20th. For those who didn’t see the historic event unfold, Brett battled and passed Team Kawasaki’s Jordan Szoke in the last turn resulting in a 0.53-sec victory. This is the first time BMW has won a Super Bike Championship as well. A great present for his 20th birthday, don’t you think? Congratulations!- JJ

I met Brett back in grade nine, we shared a couple of classes together. I remember that he didn't show up for the first week because he was racing. It's funny, almost all people that are good at something  brag at what they do. When you're having a conversation with Brett he rarely even brings up his racing. He's humble about his accomplishments and talented at what he does. Congratulations.

J. Cole & D. Pryde

We managed to catch the show at the Odeon this past Tuesday. Rocnation's J. Cole has been on a tour across Canada with Ontario's own D. Pryde opening for him. The show was great, we experience a lot of energy from both the performers and the crowd. Sometimes too much energy from the crowd, I had one girl beside me sexually harassing J. Cole. I recorded the best I could with all of the moshing and being close to speakers. I wanted to help you experience what I did.
