Just a Taste: Amigo's (again)

Just the other day a few of us guys made a stop at Amigo's for lunch. It's located one block off of Broadway. Amigo's has a wide variety of drinks, daily meal specials and hosts a lot of shows during the evening. The other two ordered: nachos grande (always large and tasty) and a chicken sandwich. I managed to go with a childhood favorite chimichanga, complimented with a nice jalapeno cream sauce. This time I tried it with beef and bean with a side of beans and rice. I was once again impressed.

STREET Thread

A couple weeks ago we (myself, Ryan, Dallas, JJ, Jason, etc) attended STREET Thread at Scratch Club. It was technically the after party (hosted by Scratch, Momentum, and SFDF) for the Spring Gala and Bill Currington film screening put on by Saskatoon Fashion and Design Festival (SFDF).

The party featured a fashion show, as well as the DJ skills of Chris Cole and Labrynth of Deep Entertainment.

I have been developing an interest for photography, but I have not yet purchased an SLR. Regardless, I was able to borrow one from a buddy of mine to play around with for a few days. Although it will most likely only ever be a hobby, I would really like to get my hands on a Canon 7D. Someday.

Boot Selection

I have chosen the Nike Legend IV, to replace my OG Legend's. They are on pre-order at the moment. As soon as I receive them you can expect to see pictures or a video.

Enjoy this video in the meantime, he's the reason why I bought the first Nike Legends about five years ago.

Nike Legend Elite IV

This next month Nike and Adidas plan on releasing a good selection of football boots. I have been looking for the past month for something I want, but my mind is racing everywhere. One that has stayed in my mind is the Nike Legend Elite IV. It has a good weight, technology and kangaroo leather making it a good combination. It has flywire built through the sides and back of the boot to keep it strong and reduce stretching while the primary upper material being the kangaroo leather. I haven't played in Tiempo's since the first Legend, which I have missed dearly. The one negative, which is a huge negative is that the pair of Legend Elites is worth $400 compared to the regular Legend which is priced at around $180.

Just a Taste: Christie's II Secondo

Aashna and I recently went to Christie's Broadway location to grab a bite. In the past I have been to their Mayfair location so it drew my attention to the new bakery/restaurant. Entering the restaurant it was very clean and has adapted nicely to the Broadway scene. You can choose to sit inside or outside. Christie's II Secondo serves both baking to take home and meals. All meals are made fresh and there is not a gigantic menu to choose from, but quality over quantity definitely comes into play at Christie's. Another thing that caught my attention is the fact that sandwiches are named after professional football (soccer) players. We tried the Pizza Calabrese, the Gattuso and a salad. We didn't realize the Gattuso was vegetarian but it ended up being great, the fresh vegetables and bread were perfect. As a matter of fact, everything we ordered was delicious! If you are trying to stay on the healthy side or looking for some shopping energy on Broadway, this place is worth the stop!

Just a Taste: Station Place

Just past Sunday we went to the Station Place for brunch. It's a buffet setting with a large selection of food from all sorts of breakfast foods to gourmet meats. Chef's present fresh food to the buffet table quite often. This brunch is only open on Sundays for around $20 an adult. It's probably my favorite place in the city for breakfast because I don't go often and get the chance to eat as much good food as my stomach can handle. Both picky and open minded eaters will be able to enjoy what the Station Place has to offer. I enjoyed sitting in the train booth and the fact that owners of the Station Place visited each table and were extremely friendly. That being said, some of the fruit was not ripe and I will avoid the scrambled eggs next time.

If you choose to give this place a shot, which I advise that you do. My advice is to make a reservation and try a bit of everything in the buffet.

Perspective

I've always been intrigued by Free Running aka. Parkour.

Not only does free running appear to be a fun source of exercise and adrenaline, but it seems to also present an entirely new perspective on life and one's surroundings..

Check out this documentary about Jason Paul: Free Runner.

It's all about perspective.

Nike- Before Ronaldo, After Ronaldo

Growing up, Brazil's Ronaldo was the best striker in the world. He could finish, make fantastic runs and win. Being an inspiration to me as a child, I have learned things from his playing style. Here is a video that Nike made to pay tribute to Ronaldo. After all, today is his last international friendly.

Helluva Lot More Than Just a Taste: Fuddruckers

1 lb. Bacon and Cheddar Burger w/ fries...

I showed Fuddruckers that I am a boss. I owned both their 1 lb. burger and their handicap stall in the men's room afterwards.

Considering that massive mess of meat, it actually tasted pretty good!

Try it or don't. Man up or don't.

Adidas adiPure IV SL

I began my new job this month as a janitor for the public school board. The reason why I bring this up is because I will miss almost all of my matches this month. When I return I plan on returning with a new pair of boots. My brother reads on soccer forums often and keeps me up to date with new products and such. He mentioned a  while ago about the new adiPure.

The adiPure IV SL is unique because it has the classic kangaroo leather upper but this time with the adiZero Traxion sole plate. The adiZero is the lightest shoe that is in the soccer/football market at 5.8 ounces. The adiPure stands strong beside it at 7.0 ounces, providing a lightweight shoe with a great touch. Currently I have been playing in the adiPure I. I generally have a heavier leather pair and a lightweight microfiber shoe, but now I can have the best of both worlds.

Just a Taste: Cupcake Conspiracy

"Keep your friends close and your cupcakes closer"

I was downtown with a few friends the other day and we decided to give this place a try, as we had never even been inside before. I asked if I could snap a few pictures with my phone, and we picked out half a dozen cupcakes to try...

I really liked the atmosphere, which I think was largely due to the clean, fresh layout of the place. The staff was friendly, and they served a sweet variety of cupcakes in different colors and flavors. I dare you to get over the calories and take a few bites...

Just a Taste: Aroma Resto Bar

This weekend I went to Aroma Resto Bar for my friend Erin's birthday. It was actually better than I expected, the service was constant and courteous, and the food was delicious.

For those of you who don't know, Aroma operates out of the Radisson Hotel on 20th st. between 4th Ave. and Spadina.

The menu was surprisingly extensive, with a lot of pasta, pizza, and BEEF. I love beef. The majority of the people in our party ordered different kinds of pizza's, which boasted names such as "Da Em and Em".

I ordered the 9 oz. Striploin (rare) with potatoes and prawns. The steak was tender and excellent, and the prawns just sent it over the top.

If you're in search of a new restaurant to try, Aroma is a great place for dates, parties, or even family dinner. It is within a decent price range (approx. 10-35 dollars/plate), and comes with a respectable level of customer service and class. Give it a try.

Nike Sb: June Quickstrike

According to Hypebeast, this will be June's quickstrike. The Nike SB "Woodgrain" definitely reminds me of the Michael Lau model but at a lower price point. Although we were told that no leather laces were going to be produced, it looks like this pair will have them pre-laced. Hopefully Momentum Marketplace will get to see these this month.
