Saskatoon Jazz Festival '11-De La Soul + Ali Shaheed Muhammad

A couple of us managed to get our hands on the tickets to the Arrested Development and De La Soul show at the Delta Bessborough gardens. I went for the purpose of seeing the De La but unfortunately Arrested Development was the head liner and been given a large amount of stage time. Both were good performers but De La Soul definitely stole the show in my opinion. They were very involved with the crowd and I knew the majority of the songs they performed.

After, only JJ had gone to the Ali Shaheed Muhammad show at Scratch and he said good things about it. Here is a video that he made of our and his own adventure of the evening.

Just a Taste: Amigo's (again)

Just the other day a few of us guys made a stop at Amigo's for lunch. It's located one block off of Broadway. Amigo's has a wide variety of drinks, daily meal specials and hosts a lot of shows during the evening. The other two ordered: nachos grande (always large and tasty) and a chicken sandwich. I managed to go with a childhood favorite chimichanga, complimented with a nice jalapeno cream sauce. This time I tried it with beef and bean with a side of beans and rice. I was once again impressed.

STREET Thread

A couple weeks ago we (myself, Ryan, Dallas, JJ, Jason, etc) attended STREET Thread at Scratch Club. It was technically the after party (hosted by Scratch, Momentum, and SFDF) for the Spring Gala and Bill Currington film screening put on by Saskatoon Fashion and Design Festival (SFDF).

The party featured a fashion show, as well as the DJ skills of Chris Cole and Labrynth of Deep Entertainment.

I have been developing an interest for photography, but I have not yet purchased an SLR. Regardless, I was able to borrow one from a buddy of mine to play around with for a few days. Although it will most likely only ever be a hobby, I would really like to get my hands on a Canon 7D. Someday.

Contest Reminder: hello saskatoon X Provadenic

ONE WEEK LEFT!

THIS IS A REMINDER. Don't forget about this deadly contest and even deadlier incentives. The deadline is June 30. Big shoutout to the entries we've received so far, they're sick! Keep 'em coming. Check the details below...

The concept...

Photography in Saskatoon is polluted with countless shots that are each carbon copies of the next. This isn't to say that such photos don't necessarily do Saskatoon justice, but it's time to step up our game and do our city a favor instead!

We want to spice things up, recapture, and redesign the essence and flavor of our city, and we want your help.

YOU will take out your supersonic photo capturing device 3000 (aka. camera), dust it off, do 15 jumping jacks, spin in circles until you aren't sure which way is West, and then set out on an incredible journey towards capturing the most creative, unique, and outstanding photo of the city of Saskatoon

EMAIL ENTRIES TO hellosaskatoon@gmail.com NO LATER THAN JUNE 30

Check out the facebook event and share it with your friends: hello saskatoon X Provadenic contest
