Shad at Amigos | November 23, 2013

This Saturday, Canadian rapper Shad will return to Amigo's to perform another show. You may be thinking that he was here recently with Macklemore & Ryan Lewis but just the other month his album Flying Colours released, hence the tour. For a measly $18, I highly recommend that you come out. This dude seriously knows how to perform. Tickets should still be available online.

Barnstone Tournament | 2013

It's about that time of year again where the old soccer centre reaches full capacity. The tournament is put on by the Barnstone Master's team and never fails to be a good time. From playing competitively to playing recreationally to watching, the tournament is always a blast. Like usual, those who enter the open league play for cash prizes and there is a mens, womens and co-ed group. This year the tournament will be held November 15-17. Come be a part of Barnstone and watch games and be a part of the social event. I hope to see you out!

The North Face: "Into The Mind" | October 24

On October 24 at Village Guitar & Amp Co. (432 20th St W) there will be a showing of The North Face's "Into the Mind" documentary. Into The Mind is a documentary that focuses on The North Face’s athletes. It gives the viewer an understanding of taking risks from their perspectives. Team sports are quite different than individual sports, and having less experience in that department encourages me to learn more. The visuals in the trailer itself are crazy (peep it in full screen). Tickets cost $12 and can be purchased at Momentum 8th, Momentum Marketplace and Outtabounds. If there are any tickets remaining, they will be sold at the door for $15.

"Boys of the Summer" Skate Jam | Photo Recap

This year at Momentum we had windy weather, an injured skater and troubles with our barbecue but our fourth annual skate event was a huge success. We started off with a games of skate won by Cole, Devon and Tyler. This was followed by a best trick contest. After difficult judging by Christian, Brennan, Jeff, Derek, Tyler and myself, we decided that Kamry's Boneless 360 deserved to win it all. We then finished the day off with a product toss from all of our sponsors.

Kocheda Winter Music Festival

This is the first year of Saskatoon hosting Kocheda. Kocheda is an Inuit term for "new snow" which suits the season of this music festival. At the moment there are two headliners, electronic artist deadmau5 and rapper 2 Chainz. The music festival takes place December 29 at Prairieland Park and the prices range from $59.95 to $119.95.

Momentum | "The Boys of the Summer" Skate Jam

To celebrate another great summer of skateboarding, Momentum Skateboarding is hosting their 4th Annual Skate Jam at Centennial Skatepark on Sunday September 29th at 2PM.

The afternoon will include: 

• Refreshing Refreshments served by Vitamin Water.
• A Game of S.K.A.T.E.
• A Best Trick Contest
• Hotdogs for the homies by Chef TRON provided by Momentum Skateboarding
• Prizes thrown off the bank into a crowd.

*Prizes will be awarded to the Game of S.K.A.T.E. & Best Trick winners, which were generously provided by our sponsors (HUF Footwear, Fourstar Clothing, Spitfire Wheels, 3D Skateboards, Chance Skateboards, Plains Hardware, and of course, Momentum Skateboarding).

Taste of Saskatchewan 2013

Taste of Saskatchewan may be expensive and busy but that's the price you pay to sample multiple local restaurants. It was good, seeing and eating at both old and new restaurants. I wish that there would be more new restaurants to be honest, I don't know how expensive it is to get a booth but I like to see that ambition from new entrepreneurs. When I go to the Taste of Saskatchewan I try to eat at places that I wouldn't go to regularly or eat those popular dishes you hear everyone speak about. Beneath are some photos of dishes that were ordered.
