Barnstone Tournament | 2013

It's about that time of year again where the old soccer centre reaches full capacity. The tournament is put on by the Barnstone Master's team and never fails to be a good time. From playing competitively to playing recreationally to watching, the tournament is always a blast. Like usual, those who enter the open league play for cash prizes and there is a mens, womens and co-ed group. This year the tournament will be held November 15-17. Come be a part of Barnstone and watch games and be a part of the social event. I hope to see you out!

FIFA 14 | Gameplay Trailer

FIFA is still among one of our favourite past times between my circle of friends. Over the past few years, the game has gotten much better. From graphics to the realistic situations in the game of soccer, there has definitely been improvements made by EA. I can't wait for the release, you'll have to add my PSN in the future if you want to tango.

Nike works alongside the English national squad to produce a documentary and insight to the lives of some of the members of the team. I am not sure exactly how long this may go for, but it would be unreal for it to lead all of the way up to the 2014 Brazil World Cup

NBC | English Premier League Commercial

With NBC now presenting the EPL season in North America, they created a commercial to introduce it. Jason Sudeikis plays an American football coach who must now learn how to coach English soccer. It's a funny advertisement and I am happy for another channel to play EPL games.

Paradise Soccer Club | the ART of FUTSAL

This is a tournament that took place in Honolulu, Hawaii. It was a 3v3 tournament that was hosted by Paradise Soccer Club, food, drinks and music were also present. This is always something that my friends and I enjoyed doing this at tennis courts in our high school days. Sometime in my future, I can see myself hosting a tournament like this.

Soccer Bible | Collin Eder speaks on the Nike Premier

If you go on any soccer or even fashion blogs/forums, you see that the Nike Premier is receiving a lot of attention. Being compared to the iconic adidas Copa Mundial, a lot of love and hate has been shared. Eder speaks about the inspiration and idea behind the shoe. The things that I love about the introduction of this shoe is the kangaroo leather that seems to be disappearing from the soccer market, the weight of the boot and the fact that this shoe will be available season to season in the same colour. You will see professional soccer players who are still wearing models from previous years. Soon you may see JJ and myself in a pair of these.

I am always looking forward to the most recent FIFA game. I feel like even those who dislike soccer enjoy the game too. In the past, I have felt that each version has surpassed the previous game with its game play and game modes. I hope that I am impressed again, I really look forward to playing this.

Nike | Premier

This is the new Nike Premier, which was inspired by the heritage boot decades ago. This is a model to compete with the current Copa Mundial, Mizuno Morelia and Puma King. It features a kangaroo and goat leather and conical studs. If you have never played with a k-leather, you have never lived. This classic boot, bypasses gimmicks and all the new jazz that is marketed towards us. Weighted at about 8.6 oz. makes it ideal for even the modern player.

Nike Soccer | Hypervenom

After about a decade, Nike's Total 90 series is being replaced. Poster boy Neymar and other Nike stars such as Rooney, Gomez, Lewandowski and Ibrahimovic will be wearing these. At 7.2 oz Nikeskin boot makes a new market for consumers. Focusing on a player's agility, we see conical studs and Nike free technology. Originally I found these similar to a Mercurial Vapor, but the material and studs make it much more different. I don't know if I could see myself in something this flashy these days but the technology and marketing campaign have been impressive.

If you still enjoy the Laser, I advise you grab a pair now. If not, these will be in local retailers soon.

Saskatoon World Cup 2013

This weekend is the annual Saskatoon World Cup tournament. For the past couple of years this tournament has been held on May long weekend. This year there will be 28 men's teams, four women's teams and eight youth teams competing. Like last year, each team is allowed to have players from their represented nationality and three imports (other ethnicities). I will once again be representing team China.

It is quite competitive and a bunch of fun for both players and fans. You can grab a weekend pass to support your favourite team or come just to experience the love of the sport with Saskatoon's soccer community. I encourage you to come watch games, have some drinks and party/socialize with us!

Nike Mercurial Vapor IX | Cristiano Ronaldo

Today Cristiano Ronaldo's Vapor IX releases. The Mercurial Vapor is Nike's lightest boot to date. This model specifically does not feature the golf ball dimple textured upper but instead a soft leather feel. The material is a Teijin microfiber. Just For Kicks 2013

This weekend is Saskatoon's Just For Kicks (JFK) soccer tournament. The tournament will be played on tile for mens, womens and co-ed in various age groups. It will be hosted at the Henk Ruys Centre. It is completely recreational, most teams competing are playing just for fun. Actually, majority of the people there are just hanging out to socialize and party in the evenings. You can find Dallas, JJ and myself there playing the co-ed tournament. I plan on living at the old soccer centre all weekend, I hope to see you there!
