Essentials | Dallas S.

This is the essentials for hello saskatoon's Dallas. Since it has been a while, essentials are the items that you rarely leave your house without. People often say "I can't live without my phone", well for a lot of us there is more than just a phone. We have been putting this off for a while now so here is Dallas's essentials.

Nike Free Run 2+ -  Bought these shoes in the spring. Whether I am going for a bike ride or a heading out for the night these shoes go with practically anything.

Keys - For the 'Rari

Cardholder - One of my favourite Christmas gifts, simple and practical.

Essentials | Chris Watchorn (Oak + Oar)

Let me give you a short summary of who Chris is. Chris is the owner and designer of Oak + Oar, a clothing company based out of Winnipeg. We began talking through the use of social media over the Christmas break and I thought that you as a reader would enjoy what he and his brand have to offer. We have a story to tell and this is only the first chapter. There will be more to read and see as the week goes on.

3sixteen+ 21BSP Denim - Chances are if you run into me I will be wearing one of two pairs of these. This particular pair was purchased at Self Edge in San Franciso a year and a half ago. In my humble opinion, the 3sixteen+ denim collection features some of the best fitting and quality Japanese denim money can buy. These ones are 18oz and fit like they were custom tailored for me. All in the details.

15" MacBook Pro - This this is a life line. I probably put in too much time on this thing but it is usually productive time.

iPhone 4G / HEX case- Much like the MacBook this thing is on my person at all time. Most frequented apps include Instagram (@oakandoar), TSN Mobile, CBC Music, WPG Jets, Winnipeg Free Press and as of late the recent addition of SquareUp. If you have a small scale business this is a great app for mobile credit card processing. I forgot to include the card reader plugin that simply plugs in the headphone jack. Check it out. The Hex case was a gift from my wife. Wanted to consoildate my wallet and phone into one and this was a great solution.

Muji Card Holder - this was an acquisition made in New York at Muji. Trying to make habit of keeping cards on me at all time. MOO prints some really great and rather inexpensive cards.

DSPTCH Key Chain - DSPTCH is a SF based company run be an acquaintance. I actually have three of these now. I have one for each set of car keys and a third for the cabin keys. This particular one is their Black/3M option and was purchased from Reed Space. These things are great. Not only are my TL keys always secured, but if I ever require it, I have 7ft of Commercial Type III 550 Parachute Cord which is sure to come in handy sometime at the lake.

Blistex DCT - When you live in harsh and varying climates like we do, you can never go wrong keeping one of these in tow.

RayBan Original Wayfarer - Insert Hipster comment.

Oak + Oar Guitar Picks - When I started packing orders in May I wanted to put something small in with each order. Stickers were my initial thoughts but I wanted something that could be a bit more relevant to the cottage aspect of the brand. Guitar picks seemed fitting because guitars are almost a given at the lake. I like to leave a few of these around town. Left a few of these at the YXE.

Tanner Goods Belt - I think they call this colour Havana. Funny story with this though. I borrowed it while an intern to wear to the MTV Music Awards (I was just a seat filler but I wanted to look the part). From there I never took it off. Literally. In fact I think this is the only thing I have ever stolen in my life.

Those are the essentials. That and an Oak + Oar hoodie but didn't know which one to put in as I seem to rotate through about five of them, all Medium and either Black or Heather. The benefits of having a company means you can print one of samples for yourself.

Essentials: Ryan T.

Hey guys and gals, just wanted to quickly share my "Essentials".

1) Giorgio Armani glasses.
 - A necessity for me. They are always on unless I'm sleeping or showering. A rule of thumb though: If it sounds Italian, it's probably expensive.

2) Sigg waterbottle.
 - Always gotta keep hydrated running back and forth on campus getting to classes and labs. I also wanted to express my asianness as well. =)

3) Samsung Galaxy S cellphone
 - Its a great phone and I haven't had many problems with it. Although I want to upgrade to the S Galaxy S2, one of the fastest phones in the market.

4) Keys and keychain
 - I only started doing this recently, but I ask friends to bring me back a keychain if they travel. So far I have Hong Kong, Taiwan, and New York.

5) Leather bi-fold wallet
 - Very durable wallet. Cards on the left, coins on the right. Currently looking for the exact same wallet but with pockets for cards and a zipper pocket for coins.

6) iPod Nano (4th Generation) + Sony headphones
- I use Public Transportation via bus to get to school so I need something to do while riding it. Music always wakes me up, whether it be Kanye or Dr. Dre.
- Forgot what model it is, but these new Sony headphones are better than my old pair of Sony MDR-V150's.

Essentials: Sam Seto

Computer: MacbookPro. I use this as my main device, no complaints and gets the job done.

Backpack: Incase. One of the best purchases of my life. Super comfortable bag with a perfect line compartment for my macbook.

Camera: Canon 30D. A bit of a hassle to carry around, but still keep it in my bag just incase.

Mobile Devices: I never never never leave home without my 9900 or iPhone. These 2 keep me in touch with my friends and my job. From emails to my music, these are the ultimate devices.

Sunglasses: Just picked up these Oakley Holbrooks in the summer, so far huge fan.

Necklace: Benny Gold x Good Wood. One of my favourite Benny Gold pieces, so glad I got a chance to pick this up.

Wallet: Of course an essential, just your basic snap wallet.

Sam does work for Outside the Box, a media company. If you want to keep in touch with him or see what he is up to you can follow him on Twitter or his blog.

Essentials: Johnny SL

Some how I manage to fit all these in my pockets.

Samsung Galaxy S2: This is my personal phone. We have a love/hate relationship. So far its love.

Blackberry Bold 9780: This is my work phone. So now work can follow me home. Once again, love/hate. This phone makes me miss my old Blackberry.

Wallet: Simple card holder wallet. This is a rare picture because I never carry cash.

iPod and Headphones: This one's a bit of a lie, my everyday iPod is in my car right now and my brother currently has the car. Panasonic headphones, these do the trick just fine.

Keys: Work, house, car keys and Ichigo's head.

Cigarettes and a Lighter: Everybody has their vices. Don't smoke. Seriously

Seiko watch: This watch was a birthday present from my mom so it holds a lot of sentiment. And there's red on it so it's extra fast.

Thanks again to Johnny for being our first guest to share his "Essentials". You can follow him on Twitter or visit his blog

Essentials: Ryan

Here are some items that I almost never leave the house, whether they are in my backpack, being worn or in my pockets.

I never leave the house without my phone. This thing is my alarm clock, calculator and of course communication device. It has taken a hell of a beating and for the most part has pleased me.

Lip chap is for those cold days, trying to avoid those dry lips. Women don't want that and neither do I.

I bought this leather bracelet from Monacle. All proceeds made were used to help Japan after their natural disaster. I usually wear something on my wrist outside of the house, otherwise I feel naked.

You probably can barely tell what this is, I can't even. But it's my wallet. It's basic and does the job.

I am currently wearing Ray Ban's "New Wayfarer". It's hard to find a pair of sunglasses for my lack of nose bridge but these seem to work. Whether it's Summer or Winter it is always wise to have a pair of shades in the car.

I've had this G-Shock for almost five years now. Back then I got it because it was trendy, now I use it because it's reliable. It has an automatic backlight, stop watch and a long lasting battery. I make sure to have it on me when I am outdoors late or even just to write an exam.

The Canon S95 is perfect for my lifestyle. It's a quality point and shoot camera that I can carry around with ease. This is what I use for my "Just a Taste" posts or when I take videos. If you need one of your own I highly recommend it, they just upgraded to the Canon S100 and it makes me jealous.

Here are some basics: keys to the whip, USB device and a Las Vegas bottle opener. Not much to say about these. I like carrying minimal keys in my pocket and the USB is for school and work. The bottle opener on the other hand stays in my bag for those house parties.
